“In The Mood” was so popular that it hit number one on the Billboard charts in 1940 and stayed there for 13 consecutive weeks. Its iconic opening notes are instantly recognizable, making it a staple in any jive or swing dance event.

This song, released in 1956, was later covered by The Brian Setzer Orchestra in 1998. Their cover version won the Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

“Rock Around The Clock” is often considered the song that brought rock ‘n’ roll into mainstream culture. It’s even been named as the theme song for the 1970s American sitcom “Happy Days.”

The song is partly autobiographical, reflecting Berry’s life as a “country boy” from a small town who could “play the guitar just like ringing a bell.” It’s one of the first songs to be included in the Voyager Golden Record, a collection of music sent into space to represent human culture to extraterrestrial life.

“Candyman” is a tribute to the Andrews Sisters’ “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” Christina Aguilera created this track with a modern spin, making it a pop culture staple that introduces a new generation to jive.

“Hound Dog” was initially written for Big Mama Thornton and was a hit for her before Elvis covered it. Elvis’ version, however, became the more well-known and iconic of the two.

“Tutti Frutti” was originally a much longer song that Little Richard used to sing to amuse his friends. The song was then shortened and got a few lyric changes before being recorded, turning into the jive classic we know today.

“Jive Talkin'” initially struggled on the charts. It was later featured in the film “Saturday Night Fever” which sparked its popularity and made it one of The Bee Gees’ biggest hits.

“You Never Can Tell” received a resurgence in popularity after it was featured in the iconic dance scene between Uma Thurman and John Travolta in Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 film “Pulp Fiction.” As we wrap up, remember: the ultimate wedding playlist is about creating unforgettable memories. Now, let’s turn the volume up and let the jive do its magic. ...
