Jun 8, 2011 · When the owners of the fabled King Ranch of Texas were looking for relief from their drought-scorched pastures there, they purchased the Buck and Doe Run Valley Farms that lay between Unionville and Coatesville here. They turned the land into a working cattle ranch.
Over the succeeding years, this landmark effort catalyzed the preservation of an additional 27,600 acres — more than 43 square miles of virtually contiguous open space — making this one of the largest private conservation projects in Pennsylvania history.
