May 12, 2022 · I am about to pull the trigger on a 5 Speed getrag for my 504. The seller has 2 options, see photos below. It will also come with a BMW bellhousing for what it's worth. The propshaft ends are the same with a 3 bolt flange which I will need to adapt.
The Getrag 250G is the most common 5 speed manual gearbox found in E36s. It is found in ALL models except from the 328i and M3. The offical BMW code name for this gearbox is S5D-250G.

Regardless, any motor capable of 300+NM and decent grip will break the Getrag. E36 328i/M3 3.0 came with the ZF 320Z 5 speed manual gearbox. This is the go-to gearbox for anyone with a decently powerful engine.
