Jul 28, 2012 · Since the Getrag 245 is longer than your original 4-speed, you will also need to either buy a pre-made transmission mount made specifically for 5-speed conversions or make your own. There are a few different ways people have done this.
Sep 8, 2009 · I've decided to start a FAQ on the Getrag 245. The most common transmission for use in a 5-speed conversion. FYI, this gearbox is found on '80 to '82 320i's, it can be identified by its 3 piece case.
Our transmission department caters for a range of Getrag gearboxes, Triumph Dolomite and Classic Mini plus diffs and axles for BMW, Triumph and the Jaguar XJS.
This article will focus on our 5-speed gearbox conversion for the XK120, XK140, XK150 and E-Type. We have fitted, tested and worked with many different gearbox setups over the years. From XJ overdrive boxes to Getrag five-speed gearboxes we have tried most.
Available gearboxes on E21’s were the Getrag manual units and ZF automatics. Standard equipment on most models was a 4 speed manual. Overdrive 5 speed was optional and became standard equipment on some top of the range models in later years (1981-1982).
Aug 23, 2018 · The original ZF 5-speed on the 330ci had the clutch go and also has the "5th gear lean" issue, so he was able to get a Getrag 5-speed driveline from an '06 325ci for dirt cheap, haven't bolted anything up yet the car is sitting for now.
Aug 3, 2005 · Does anyone know the model number of the Getrag 5 speed transmission used on the later Jensen Healey? Is it an M51 or a 262 CR or something else?
