Michigan Obituaries, 1820-2006 Index and images of obituary collections organized by county or newspaper and then alphabetically. Extracted information as well as newspaper clippings are represented.
Obituaries – Our obituary index contains names, obituary dates, newspaper name and column/page number. Although the index is incomplete, it contains approximately 90,000 entries from 1887 to date. The obituaries may be retrieved from the library’s collection of Michigan City newspapers on microfilm.
You can search for a death record by date using the “Death Range” field. Whether searching for a year or a day, select the day before and after your timeframe. For example, if searching for 1904, select 12/31/1903 and 01/01/1905.
