The Diary is the tenth episode of the Freaks and Geeks TV series. It was written by Judd Apatow and Rebecca Kirshnerv and directed by Ken Olin. The episode first aired on January 31, 2000.

Lindsay's parents prevent her from hanging out with Kim, because they think she's a bad influence. Bill grows tired of being picked last for teams in baseball in P.E. class and not being allowed to really participate, leading him to decide what to do about it.

Lindsay and Kim Kelly both go hitch hiking, and this is reported to Lindsay's father. As a result, they ask to meet Kim's mom, and they have dinner with her. After this, they get the impression that her mom is a saint, and she tells them that she figures out what bad things Kim has done by reading her diary. Lindsay's parents decide to read their daughter's diary, and realize that she thinks of them as stereotypical robots. Lindsay is not allowed to hang out with Kim anymore, making Kim angry at her.

Meanwhile, Bill wants to be picked something, other than being picked last, and so, he sends his physical education teacher a prank call and he insults him. Later, his teacher figures out that Bill did this, and Bill explains how he feels about picking teams. Bill gets to pick his team, and he later catches the ball in baseball, but he is so busy celebrating that he forgot to get the stealer out. Lindsay befriends Kim no matter what her parents say, and she tries to make a statement to her parents by this.
