The International Academy at Hammond is the first middle school of its kind in the D.C. metro area and the first middle school to be set up by the Internationals Network for Public Schools (INPS). With 22 school models, INPS has locations across New York, California, Maryland, and Virginia.

The International Academy offered at T.C. Williams High School and Francis C. Hammond Middle School, is at the forefront supporting the unique needs of immigrant English Learners as they accomplish the challenging task of graduating college-ready, while simultaneously learning English.
Francis C. Hammond Middle School. Ø IA students learn by engaging in projects with a mixed group of students with different language levels and native languages. Ø IA classes combine students from diverse backgrounds with various levels of English proficiency to accelerate their growth in language and content.
