It's hard to hear the news of a cancer diagnosis, but that's what an estimated 1,010,310 men in the U.S. experienced in 2023. Besides skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men (29%), followed by lung (12%) and colorectal (8%) cancers.
These symptoms do not always mean you have prostate cancer. Many men's prostates get larger as they get older because of a non-cancerous condition called benign prostate enlargement. Signs that the cancer may have spread include bone and back pain, a loss of appetite, pain in the testicles and unintentional weight loss. Further information:

- Skin changes. Moles, or nevi, are benign skin growths. They can appear nearly anywhere on the body, but they’re common on the head, neck, and trunk. However, if those moles change size, shape, or color, it may be an early sign of skin cancer.
- Rectal bleeding. Rectal bleeding may be an early symptom of rectal cancer. This is especially concerning if the bleeding persists or if you’re found to have iron deficiency anemia due to blood loss.
- Swollen lymph nodes. Lymph nodes are bean-shaped glands that are clustered throughout the body, including in the neck, armpits, and groin. They hold white blood cells, which are released to fight infection and disease.
