Nov 1, 2020 · Even before the Olympic Games Paris 1924, Finland’s Paavo Nurmi was considered one the greatest distance runners of all time. Four years beforehand at the Antwerp Games, Nurmi had achieved a breathtaking treble by winning gold in the 10,000m, cross-country race and team cross-country events.
Jun 11, 2018 · At the 1924 Paris Olympics, the Flying Finn won five gold medals in six days. Nurmi won the 1,500 and the 5,000 meters within an hour of each other, won the cross-country race as an individual and as part of a team and won the 3,000-meter team race.
