It's been over six years since the release of Mad Max: Fury Road and Tom Hardy has revealed in a new interview that he believes it was ultimately Furiosa's movie.

Hardy, who played Max in the film, spoke to Esquire about many aspects of his life and career in acting, including Fury Road. Hardy said he feels that the movie represents a changing of the guard between his character and Furiosa in terms of the franchise.

"That was ultimately Furiosa's movie, which was fantastic," Hardy said. "Fury Road. Furiosa. It was in the title. It was a very well-implemented changing of the guard. (Miller's) still got Mad Max, but he's split his feed between two characters, and that's really, really cool."

As for what that means exactly, only time will tell, but it's probably safe to say that Furiosa won't be centered on a long car chase like its predecessor.

May 15, 2015 · Mad Max: Fury Road finds the anti-hero more animal-like, a mad dog survivor realized by Hardy with paranoid eyes and convulsive jolts into his tragic past. “My world is reduced to a single instinct: survive,” he says in the opening narration, which recalls a more personalized version of the prologue in The Road Warrior.
