The reasoning for no records is kind of staring right at you throughout the whole movie. That's not a claim for the accuracy of any detail within the movie, but one thing I loved about the film was it explicitly leans into the why of certain things whose very existence have confused the hell out of me my whole life.
This documentary is for engineers to find the first reasonable explanation to the construction of the pyramids and the foundation of our civilization. It understands that the Egyptians were smart in Math, Physics, Geometry, Astronomy and Engineering as proven by the precision of the Pyramid and would not be stupid to carry stones.
