Fabian Hebestreit I am a professor of mathematics at Bielefeld University. I obtained my doctorate at the WWU Münster in 2014 and my habilitation at the RFWU Bonn in 2022, and was a lecturer at the University of Aberdeen before coming to Bielefeld in 2024.

Apr 1, 2024 · Our main result is that all such are automatically quadratic forms over $L$ in the usual sense if and only if $L/K$ is formally unramified. In particular, this shows that over finite and number fields, one of the axioms in the standard definition of quadratic forms is superfluous.
