The storm surge swelled the tide to 13-plus feet above sea level and devastated the neighborhood of Howard Beach. The church, school and convent had to be refurbished after the storm.

Jul 7, 2024 · Howard Beach is a nice family area with generally Italian or Irish Americans. Other than that diversity is quite low. The area has Cross Bay, a shopping area with any store you might need. Though it is nice, the area has gotten less safe, with crime increasing.
