On the 100th anniversary of the club in 2004, the Brazil national side visited St James Park for a return match which the visitors won 1-0. Exeter managed a superb 0-0 draw against Manchester United in the FA Cup Third Round on Saturday 8th January 2005. Dido must have given the United team hell!
The History of St James Park, home of Exeter City Football Club was a one-year project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), which aimed to identify, document, preserve and share the tangible and intangible history of the Club for communities of fans, staff and players in Exeter and beyond.
The project involved mass photography, which took place at the end of the 2015/6 season and produced around 300 evocative images of places, people and football, now included in this archive. The photos also formed part of the exhibition that opened at St James Park on 23 March 2017 in the hospitality area.
Exeter City Football Club History Group, The Grecian Archive and the Heritage Trust are working together to catalogue and digitise records from Exeter City Football Club. The club, which was founded in 1901 as St Sidwell's United, has an active heritage programme.
