Jan 31, 2024 · Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo or BPPV causes sensation of spinning which lasts for seconds to a couple of minutes. BPPV is caused by trapped calcium crystals in the balance organs of the inner ears. The home Epley manoeuvre is a safe treatment for symptoms of BPPV.
The Dix-Hallpike manoeuvre tests for BPPV by getting you to go from sitting upright on an examination couch to lying down with your head turned at 45 degrees, to either the left or right.
