The Home Epley Manoeuvre is a method of treating BPPV. (For more information on BPPV please see our separate leaflet). The manoeuvre will most likely cause dizziness and so should be performed in a safe environment.

The Epley Manoeuvre. This leaflet is for patients who have had balance tests performed and have been diagnosed with the most common type of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) which involves the posterior semi-circular canal. This type of BPPV makes up 85% of cases. How is Posterior Canal BPPV diagnosed?
Ask yourself the following questions and follow the instructions below to see if there is a manoeuvre that will be able to help settle your symptoms. Do you have a spinning or whirling sensation of the surroundings or yourself? Do you feel dizzy mostly when your head is moved? Does the dizziness last less than 3 minutes?
Aug 8, 2024 · These exercises are to be used for treatment of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). Whilst in clinic you may have had a procedure carried out called an ‘Epley’ manoeuvre. This is used to treat BPPV. You may have then been recommended to perform some exercises at home.

Jan 31, 2024 · Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo or BPPV causes sensation of spinning which lasts for seconds to a couple of minutes. BPPV is caused by trapped calcium crystals in the balance organs of the inner ears. The home Epley manoeuvre is a safe treatment for symptoms of BPPV.
