   When did Ephrem die?

   • In 363 AD Ephrem’s hometown became part of the Persian Empire, and soon after that the Christian population was allowed to settle elsewhere within the Roman Empire. Ephrem went westward to Edessa, where he died 10 years later, in 373 AD, while taking care of the victims of a famine afflicting the city.
