Feb 25, 2024 · I have an Empire direct vent heater (model DV-35-2SG) that I use to heat my garage. It had a weak pilot flame, just barely reaching the thermopile. I cleaned the orifice and pilot burner but it made no difference.
If the pilot is NOT lit: 1. At the same time, press the “OFF” and high flame buttons and release once there is an audible “beep” sound. 2. The pilot will ignite on the sixth beep. You may hear a clicking sound around the same time as that beep, this is normal. 3. There will be a total of 14 beeps.

• Do make a periodic visual check of pilot and burners. Clean and replace damaged parts. • CAUTION: The glass used in your fireplace is tempered glass. If the glass is cracked or damaged in any way, it should be replaced only with a complete glass frame assembly from Empire. See parts list on Pages 56 and 57 for ordering.

Once the standing pilot is lit, the MV system operates with an on/off switch concealed on the back of the stove or with one of Empire’s optional remote control systems. IP systems eliminate the standing pilot for even greater energy savings.

Jan 17, 2007 · A pilot light, once lit, can go out for several reasons. These direct vent wall heaters are especially vulnerable to drafts of air from outside affecting burning conditions in the heater. They can literally "suck" the flame out.
