Guardian defenders are more generally useable. After playing the army for several years you will probably have a pile of both guardians and storm guardians, so don't feel like there's pressure to 'get it right' at this moment. And yeah, I would recommend magnetizing the weapons platform.

King Daeron II is a simple, yet good, Light Support monster, having a high Speed stat helps with his main move "Fellow Favor" being able to Turn Transfer + Remove an Ally's tortures which pairs well with slower but powerful monsters.
