May 16, 1999 · E.K. Gaylord II has been named chairman of the Gaylord Entertainment Co., succeeding his father, Edward L. Gaylord, who will become chairman emeritus. The announcement was made at Gaylord Entertainment's annual shareholders meeting in Nashville, Tenn.

Edward King Gaylord (March 5, 1873 – May 30, 1974), often referred to as E.K. Gaylord, was the owner and publisher of The Daily Oklahoman newspaper (now The Oklahoman), as well as a radio and television entrepreneur.

Dec 8, 1987 · Edward K. Gaylord II will be honored as Man of the Year by the Rodeo Historical Society Dec. 19 at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame. The annual society banquet also will honor five new inductees into the Rodeo Hall of Fame, whose names have yet to be announced.
