George Brown (c. 1438 – January 1515) was a late 15th-century and early 16th-century Scottish churchman. He first appears on record in 1478 as the rector of the church of Tyningham, and is called a clerk of the diocese of Brechin. [1]

Douglas became bishop of Dunkeld and the queen’s chief adviser and involved himself in a series of intrigues to advance her cause and the power of his family, which led ultimately to his downfall. In 1521 he was forced by political enemies to flee to England, where he remained in exile until his death in London from the plague.

George Crichton or Crichtoun served as Abbot of Holyrood Abbey then as the Bishop of Dunkeld until his death on 24 January 1543. He was abbot of Holyrood Abbey in Edinburgh from at least 1515, succeeding Robert Bellenden.
