The series is a joint production between Bento Box Entertainment, Universal Television, Fox Entertainment and 20th Television Animation.
On April 6, 2020, Duncanville was renewed for a second season, bringing the total number of episodes to 26. On April 6, 2021, Duncanville was renewed for a third season, bringing the total number of episodes to 39. In June 2022, Fox cancelled the series and took the series off the schedule, and leaving six episodes unaired. The six episodes will be released on Hulu on October 18, effectively concluding the series. However, the show is being shopped to Hulu and Peacock for a potential season 4 revival. In November 2023, Mike Scully revealed that both Hulu and Peacock have passed on the series.
is currently syndicated internationally to Canada's Citytv, the United Kingdom’s Channel 4 (later moved to E4 in 2021 and then 4Music in 2022), and Australia’s Nine Network through Fox Corporation for the former and NBCUniversal Television Distribution for the latter two.
