Really enthralled by this second ep; being so different to Petzold’s first increased the fun. They each shed a lot of light on the other. Fascinatingly, watching Petzold’s, I thought the town was barely a town at all, more like a hospital in the woods; in this one, it’s buzzy and vibrant (and less gorgeously leafy; Petzold played up the bucolic forest as an Arden for his young lovers).

The police psychologist Jo is supposed to help catch the sex offender Molesch. Since the hotel is fully booked, she stays with her old college friend Vera and her husband Bruno. It turns out that Vera and Jo used to be in love with the same man. The two women's musings are interrupted when Molesch suddenly appears in the garden.
