In 1747, a handsome but rebellious Scotsman named Richard Abdee is auctioned off as a slave on a Caribbean island controlled by French and British sugar-planters. When caught having sex with his owner's wife, Abdee is given 100 lashes with the dreaded "dragonard" whip.

Dec 31, 2014 · My parents had this movie on VHS when I was a kid and I watched it over and over again. Rewatching it now as an adult it feels just as magical, but I also see just how formative it was for me. A man of science traveling to a world of magic, and trying to understand logically how everything works is just how I think about fantasy.
