In the film, an espionage agency seeks to compromise an employee of a foreign government. And to compromise that foreign government employee, the spies try to find his greatest weakness. A 1978 dispositif film shot from the point of view of a surveillance team spying on a French diplomat. It is so concentrated and willing to follow its premise to the end, it remains fascinating, at same time immersive and rather hard to take. The paranoia on display might be obvious, but it remains a rather chilling indictment of police state at work.
