Oct 13, 2021 · This 2017 vintage Port is made for Waitrose by Quinta da la Rosa, a small estate in the heart of the Douro. It was a dry, hot year, but a cooler spell during harvest helped this wine retain freshness alongside the hedonistic plummy fruit flavours and spicy, fruit cake notes.
Quinta dE LA ROSA. Our ports, like our wines, display the terroir’s remarkable freshness and minerality. A longer fermentation period, combined with extreme care when adding brandy, results in balanced ports without over powering sweetness.
Quinta de la Rosa. 91 pts Wine Enthusiast - The 2008 LBV has very lively, complex aromas with a mature, black plum, spicy, herbal finish. It has good concentration without being too full bodied and fresh tannins giving the port length and depth.
The Port is still young with richness and a light structure that is still developing. It will fill out and ripen as its ages and smooths. All the elements are there for a very fine wine. Drink from 2025. — Roger Voss.
