Watching "Red Foreman" kill Robocop as a child permanently stuck with me. Dude gets his hand blown off with some very gruesome practical effects. Then they just fill him full of lead. The original Robocop was rated "X" and they fought tooth and nail to get it rated "R."
It goes without saying that the 1990 sequel isn't as good as the original, but the second installment did an honorable job of keeping with the feel of Verhoeven's work - the ultraviolence, the social critiquing. It's a worthy follow-up. I had all the robocop toys when that came out.
