Former Shortland Street actor Quinton Hita lives the rural idyll – but his gritty new television drama is anything but. Kim Knight reports.
More Information. Quinton Hita's work on TV, radio and film has seen him on both sides of the camera. After winning fans on Mai Time and Shortland Street, he went behind the scenes on Shortland, and these days is better known in the industry as a prolific producer with company Kura Productions.
Quinton Hita is the owner and CEO of Kura Productions (Mt Zion, Ahikāroa, Maui’s Hook, Kōwhao Rau, Pūkoro). He sits on a number of language, education, whānau and broadcasting boards, and is also the Taumata Whakahaere of the Taitokerau whare wānanga, Tauranga Kōtuku Rerenga Tahi.
Quinton Hita - Quinton Hita's broadcasting career has included stints as DJ, writer, actor and producer. His abilities in te reo first took Hita to radio, then a gig co-presenting TV's Mai Time. He went on to act in Crooked Earth and Shortland Street, where he also did time as a writer and Māori script editor.
