Dec 9, 2022 · Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (or simply Pinocchio) is a 2022 stop-motion animated musical fantasy film directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson (in his feature directorial debut) from a screenplay by del Toro and Patrick McHale.
In 1942 they dubbed Dumbo, Bambi and Pinocchio in Argentina. Later, they returned to Burbank and dubbed Disney shorts and movies like Make Mine Music or Fantasia. It was not until 1950 when Edmundo Santos, the dubbing director, convinced Walt Disney to allow him to record dubbing at the Churubusco Studios in Mexico.
The dubbing originated from Argentina but isn't Argentinian Spanish but rather Neutral Spanish. There are two Swedish dubs. The original from 1941 and the redub from 1995. The original dub was released during 1987 in Sweden on VHS but for rental stores only and is extremely rare.
Throughout the years I've noticed that a lot of media that's dubbed in Spanish usually comes in two varieties: European Spanish, and Latin American Spanish. I've also noticed the term Neutral Spanish, though I wonder if this is just another name for Latin American Spanish?
