The Ormiston Families team is based in a bright and welcoming visitors’ centre just outside the perimeter walls of the prison. We provide support, information and a personal welcome to help visitors access the available services.
In 2023/24, we reached over 5,100 families and welcomed over 66,000 visitors to our prison visit centres. Every one of them has a story to tell. Read about some of their journeys in our impact reports below – and how you can support us to continue to make a difference.
Prison Visitor Centres offer support to families and reinforce the relationships between children and their imprisoned parents, carers and family members. The service includes, but is not limited to, booking visits, provision of family and children's days and play and refreshment facilities in the visits hall.
Ormiston Families’ Breaking Barriers service provides support for children and young people affected by the imprisonment of a close family member. Tailored one-to-one support reduces anxiety around prison, and supports emotional wellbeing and school attendance.
