In 1854, a fort was built in Spanish Fork to meet the needs of existing settlers. In January of 1855 the area of Spanish Fork was incorporated as a city. Soon after incorporation, the first Icelandic immigrants settled between 1855 and 1860.
Mar 11, 2011 · Today is all about historic churches and schools in Spanish Fork. I thought about doing this in two different posts, but the two things were so connected. I ended up deciding to just do them together. The first church and school that I want to focus on is right at the center of town.
Facts. Named after a river adjacent to the city's original location, which was dubbed by the 1776 Dominguez-Escalante expedition. Spanish Fork originally began as an outgrowth of Palmyra, but as the community developed, Palmyra diminished and became the northwest suburb of Spanish Fork.
Apr 1, 2021 · The cross majestically overlooks the entrance to Spanish Fork Canyon and stands brilliantly white against the mountain range beyond. Today, the site seems like an almost forgotten piece of history. However, one sign remains in the form of a plaque at the base of the cross.
