I'm not saying it will be a major plot point, but I could imagine some Kaidu loyalists potentially not accepting it and maybe causing trouble, if they wanted to make that a subplot for S3. Especially if Kaidu's mom survives, if she had a twitter account she would be saying...
However, before the official votes were cast Kaidu decides to double down on his shittiness and threatens Kublai with....uhh....killing his son? or was it taking over the kingdom? unless Kublai resigned.
Marco and Jingim believe it's the work of Kaidu, but Kublai doesn't seem worried. Eventually, after a night of passion with an exotic dancer who's traveled the world, the Blue Princess visits Marco and the mystery of the horses is solved.
