This powerful technique, while intense, has shown promise in helping individuals overcome debilitating anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Several examples are provided in this chapter of the reemergence of traumatic early memories during therapy, and an example of the same phenomenon is described with reference to implosion therapy for a recuurent nightmare.
