Feb 28, 2022 · Under the recent rule changes, no matter when you passed your driving test, you’re automatically given categories BE on your driving licence. This allows you to drive a vehicle with a MAM of up to 3500kg with a trailer. If you passed before 19 January 2013, you can tow any size of trailer.
- Practical Motorhome
In most cases the same drivers will be able to tow a trailer upto 3,500kg on a BE driving licence entitlement assuming the motorhome trainweight is adhered to. Further information is available in the our Expert Guide to Driving Licences .
- Stop your motorhome as soon as possible. Even if you think it’s ‘only’ a minor bump or scrape it’s important to you stop your vehicle following an accident.
- Keep calm. A road accident can be a terrifying experience for all concerned, but it’s important to try to remain as calm as possible. Depending on the nature of the accident your body could be full of adrenaline and you may be feeling shaky.
- Check yourself and your passengers for any injuries. Protecting your safety and the safety of your passengers has to be your first priority. After all you can always repair damage to your motorhome, that isn’t the case with injuries to people.
- Check on anyone else involved in the accident. If there are other road users involved in the accident, then check on them, too. They might need your help.
