Mar 17, 2022 · Duckbill check valves are non-mechanical, require no maintenance, and do not slam when closed. They are also resistant to organic contaminants such as algae and barnacles and have no problem disposing of suspended solids entrained streams, such as abrasive slurries.
Mar 7, 2024 · Explore the ingenious mechanism of duckbill check valves, essential components in fluid systems. Learn how they prevent backflow and the importance of maintenance for optimal performance.
Check Valve Slam. Check valve slam occurs after pump stoppage when the system flow reverses back towards the pump before the check valve is fully closed (Figure 1). The reverse flow causes the check valve to close rapidly through the remaining portion of its travel.

Nov 1, 2019 · Duckbill Check Valves have low head loss and achieve the tightest possible seal for backflow operations, particularly at low flow rates. The flexibility allows the valve to compress around trapped solids, providing a much better seal than flap gates.
Surprisingly, a resilient-seated check valve can make the same metallic slam sound as a metal-seated valve. To prevent slam, a check valve must either be able to close in a frac-tion of a second or be fitted with oil dashpot devices or actuators to con-trol its closure over several seconds or (depending on the length of the pip-ing system) minutes.

Cla-Val Rubber-Flex Duckbill Check Valves are designed to provide outstanding back-flow prevention; eliminating costly and unwanted back-flow from rivers, oceans, storm water, and is an excellent choice for sewage diffuser systems.
Oct 29, 2019 · Silent or spring –assisted check valves do not rely on gravity or reverse flow to close. Instead, the spring closes in about one-tenth of a second, the valve before reverse flow has an opportunity to slam the valve shut.
