Fretboard Chart 5 String Bass. The chart doesn’t or end at any precise frets on a real fretboard. You decide what chord you want to look for and then start by finding its Root, ®. First find the Root ‘A’ on the 6th, 5th or 4th string, then look for b3, b5 and b7 on the higher strings.
The tuning of a 5-string bass usually follows this pattern: B-E-A-D-G. The B string is the lowest and thickest, while the rest of the strings maintain the same tuning as a standard 4-string bass. Some bassists might experiment with alternative tunings, but B-E-A-D-G is the most common.
