Dec 9, 1994 · Harry Horner, performing arts designer and director who won Academy Awards for his work on the films "The Heiress" and "The Hustler," has died.
Horner gave up directing in 1959 and turned full-time to art direction. From that point on, he produced wonderfully detailed and nuanced designs in a variety of genres. For The Hustler (1961) he created a dark world of seedy pool hustlers and small-time criminals; and he won his second Oscar®.
