Me and my sister went to the new Vue Cinema in Basildon for the first time, and it was a great experience. I knew the cinema used to be an Empire Cinema until they went bankrupt. The venue is great, putting it near Eastgate shopping centre was a smooth choice. The ticket prices are definitely cheaper than Cineworld.

In July 2016 the Empire Basildon was one of five Empire cinemas taken over by the Cineworld chain. The other four cinemas were the Empire, Leicester Square, London, Hemel Hempstead, Poole and Bromley. The two small Studio screens were convered into a Starbuck in 2018. Screen X was added on 5th Sptil 2019.
