Jun 22, 2005 · We have a thread on this somewhere from fairly recently. I think the answer was to boil up a full kettle that had a tbsp or two of bicarb in it. I'll see if I can find it... : Bicarbonate of soda is the way to go. Fill the kettle and add two tbsp of bicarb and bring to the boil. Dump the water and rinse well.
Dec 31, 2017 · Good as new. So no need to take anything apart. Just a coin or a nut or something about 10 grams, and a bit of tape. You might need to experiment with different weights. You want enough to keep the switch down, but not so much it stops the switch flipping up when the water boils. Hope this helps someone!

Oct 2, 2021 · Gas = 0.00225 ft3 =£0.361p. Elec = 0.925kWh = £0.4211p. This was not the cost of boiling a cup of water, but making the most energy efficient mug of hot white coffee I could. For gas I counted the little wheel turny-thing, for Electricity I calculated seconds switched on @ 3kW.
