On the other hand, Ascension released 3 years after GoW III, and I often see it recommended to play through a series in release order. I really liked 3, but I like 2018 better. 3 was the end of a trilogy, 2018 is the start of one. 3 had two prior games to set up what was going on. 2018 is the start of a new trilogy that is having to set up the next few games. I personally think it’s a bit unfair to compare the two, considering GoW 3 is the finale of the saga which has had time to build up and GoW 2018 is the beginning of the new saga.
