Sic Mundus, also referred to as the Travelers, is a secret society of time travelers in Winden, led by Adam, an older Jonas Kahnwald. They are opponents to Claudia Tiedemann and her apprentice, a younger Jonas himself, as well as Martha Nielsen of a parallel world, in a war for control of time travel.
Sic Mundus was founded in the 19th century by Heinrich Tannhaus, who wished to find a way to bring his dead wife, Charlotte, back to life. By 1888, Heinrich's son, Gustav, was the only remaining member until the Stranger, Franziska Doppler, Magnus Nielsen, and Bartosz Tiedemann appeared, having traveled back in time just as the apocalypse happened in 2020.
By 1921, Adam had become the leader and his followers work on excavating the time travel passage in Winden Caves. They abandon their headquarters after the apocalypse in 2020 and move to 2053.
In 1987, the Unknown breaks into the Sic Mundus lodge and steals the time machine's blueprints before setting the place on fire.
In 2052, Sic Mundus is still around and post-apocalyptic Winden inhabitants led by Elisabeth Doppler venerate the society, believing the group is their salvation and will lead them to paradise.
In 1921, Sic Mundus operates from a massive underground headquarters accessed from an elevator into St. Christopher's church. The lair was presumably excavated from the caves that underlie the town, but is of unknown antiquity.
The rooms within the lair are lavishly apportioned and richly furnished. Areas depicted include the following:
•Stone entryway, a monumental entrance into which the words "Sic Mundus Creatus Est" have been inscribed.
•Adam's study, a massive room featuring a wall of photographs of the four families, framed prints of time travel devices, and Rubens' painting "The Fall of the Damned," or a full-sized replica of it.
•A lab, in which a second wormhole has been opened, and machinery constructed to stabilize it for time travel that's not restricted by the 33-year cycle
•Guest quarters, where the teenage Jonas Kahnwald slept for the night.

"The Travelers" is the fourth episode of Season 2 of Dark. It premiered on June 21, 2019, and is the 14th episode overall. Jonas meets an ominous figure. While the kids comb the cave for answers, the adults gather in the bunker to share what they know about the travelers. Only just in time! We had about 6 weeks to get him rehearsed. A little while later, on Sunday 9th July, 1972, we all assembled at 12 Military Road, Northampton, where, over the next 3 days we laid down the 6 tracks that were to become 'Dark Round The Edges'. Alan Bowley engineered the album.
DARK were a short-lived British Psychedelic Rock band based in Northampton, who released just one album before splitting up and going their separate ways. Their super-rare "Round the Edges" (1971) album has now become a real collectors item as there were apparently only sixty private pressings made of the original LP album, which were mainly given away to family and friends of the band.
