Daneshill operates a graduated approach to SEND. A teacher or parent may initially refer a child to the attention of the Learning Support Department. The child enters Stage 1, Monitoring. The child is monitored through a process of assess, plan do, review for a specified period e.g. a half term or more.
After the sad death of Simon Spencer in 2016, the school was acquired by the Wellesley family and now forms part of the Wellington Estate. The Wellesley Family have a specific expertise and experience in education and are committed to Daneshill’s long-term future as an independent prep school with a focus on the same core values that have established its reputation.
The Tutor is responsible for their tutees’ behaviour and their role is to mainly support and guide children. Our aim is to always model and expect positive behaviour to pre-empt the necessity for sanctions. Tutors rely on the Deputy Head for support in their role and, if necessary, can use outside agencies for advice.
