Oct 1, 2021 · Most of the original members had been associated with him in the pipe band of the 7th (Blythswood) Battalion HLI (Territorials) who won the World Pipe Band Championships that year. They were eager to play in his new band and to have him remain as their Pipe Major.
From 2010 to 2019, Dan was a member of Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band, winning the world pipe band championships in 2015. After a year as part of the management team at The Glasgow Police Pipe Band, Dan has taken a hiatus from pipe bands to concentrate on writing a book and recording original music for an album.”
Mar 18, 2021 · He is a music graduate from the BA Applied Music at the University of Strathclyde. As well as being a familiar face around Scotland’s solo piping circuit, Dan plays with Glasgow Police Pipe Band, having previously been a member of Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia and Vale of Atholl.
The Sutherland Pipes and Drums continue to welcome new members into their ranks and are as proud today as they were in 1965 to wear the uniform and display the crest of the Sutherland Clan..Its motto ‘Sans Peur’ which translates to ‘Without Fear’ is known and adopted by each band member.
