Dag Ivar Wirén (Striberg, 15 oktober 1905 - Danderyd, 19 april 1986) was een Zweedse componist van klassieke muziek. Biografie. Wirén was de oudste zoon van het gezin van Ivar en Anna Wirén. Hij gaf al jong blijk van muzikale begaafdheid en besloot al in zijn eerste schooljaren dat hij componist wilde worden.
Dag Wirén’s list of works includes 44 works with opus numbers, mainly instrumental music of various types: quartets, other chamber music, piano pieces, symphonies, concertos, and also some vocal and scenic works.
Biography. Born on 15 October 1905 in Striberg, near Nora in the Swedish province of Västmanland. Grew up in Fjugesta south of Örebro, where his father had a roller blind factory. Piano lessons early on and attempts at composition in a home filled with musical activities of many kinds.
In memory of Dag Wirén’s contributions as a composer, the goals of the Dag Wirén Foundation are to. encourage performance of his works; support recording of his works; spread knowledge of his works in other ways. The Foundation can also reward people who bring special attention to the music of Dag Wirén or who work meritoriously in his spirit.
