The west-wing housing the dance hall with a superb view of the enchanting gardens, still remains today. On the first floor the original renaissance wood carved, coffered ceiling can be admired by visitors. During the second half of the 19th century, the town began to attract landscape artists.
The city hall, situated in the heart of the old town, is the seat of the city administration. The original city hall, first mentioned in 1486, was rebuilt in the years 1614/15. Three hundred years later this building was so dilapidated that it had to be torn down in 1934 and replaced.
Dachau Alstadt (old town), having been around since the 13th Century, is within walking distance from the S-Bahn station and is a nice little picturesque area to walk around. Municipal Parish Church of St. Jakob and the town hall are two of the notable buildings.

Tourist information is situated on the main square, close to the Town Hall and dominant church. Personal is very kind and helpful. It's possible to get here free map of Dachau. One serious disadvantage (from my point of view :-) ) - very limited choice of postcards with Dachau views.
