The Priesthood and Worship in the Theology of St. Cyril of Alexandria (I) Ionuț-Vasile CRIȘAN . Abstract: The study on both parts presents systematically the basic conception of St. Cyril of Alexandria on priesthood and the particularity of the worship brought by Jesus Christ.
Cyril of Alexandria left to posterity a sizable body of exegetical literature. This monograph attempts to reconstruct his theology of Scripture in order to suggest that his exegetical practice is inseparable from, and must be interpreted in light of, his overarching theological vision.
He elevates Athanasius to be a universal voice for the Christian tradition, but refuses that role to the Syrians; and this, in efect, is the projection of his theory of patristic ‘weight’ in the voices he studies. From this we learn two things about Cyril’s use of the Mia Physis for-mula.

Saint Cyril of Alexandria, Christian theologian and bishop active in the complex doctrinal struggles of the 5th century. He is chiefly known for his campaign against Nestorius, whose views on Christ’s nature were to be declared heretical. Cyril was named a doctor of the church in 1882.
