I absolutely do not support Fletcher’s tactics. But I would say the idea that Andrew could have played better without the abuse is not supported in the movie. He would have practiced, tried his best, and been a pretty good drummer, but I doubt he would have taken the steps necessary to become excellent without Fletcher.
