Jack falls for the owner's daughter, Lily, but they are forced to elope to Seattle when her father forbids the relationship.
Jack McGurn (Quaid) moves to Los Angeles from New Jersey in 1936 to escape from troubles that fall on him as a labor organizer. He takes a job as a projectionist in a Little Tokyo movie theater run by a Japanese-American family. He falls in love with his Japanese boss's daughter.
In "Come See the Paradise," love blossoms between an Irish-American man and a Japanese-American woman, only to be shattered by the chaos of Pearl Harbor. As internment looms, their bond faces the ultimate test against prejudice and wartime strife.
