An application for an MFA degree should be filed with the Office of Student Affairs, 305 Dodge Hall. Degree applications deadlines are: August 1 for October degrees; November 1 for February degrees; December 1 for May degrees; When degree application dates fall on a weekend or holiday, the deadline moves to the next business day.

Registration dates for the spring term usually begin in November during the fall term.
The aim is to acquaint students with a broad range of contemporary thought, and for students to develop their skills in verbal and textual analysis. This two-year-long course is divided into two sections. In the fall semester, first- and second-year MFA students attend separate reading seminars.
