Jan 29, 2019 · Abstract. Production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), especially butyrate, in the gut microbiome is required for optimal health but is frequently limited by the lack of fermentable fiber in the diet.
This young cohort provided a wide diversity of gut communities without the 56 additional complications of chronic health conditions such as obesity, Type 2 diabetes or 57 cardiovascular disease that are related to altered microbiome structure and function (13, 14).
